Looking Back at Chapter 4

Look over the lessons in Chapter 4.  Why do you think the editors of this textbook put all of this material together in one chapter?  What connects all of the lessons?  Are there any lessons in Chapter 4 that do not fit in the chapter?  Also, do you think other lessons could be added to this chapter?  If so, which ones, and why?  If not, why not?

I think the editors pulled all of this material together because it all is part of a same concept. The concept is the analyzation of all numbers in different processes. Maybe the simplifying algebraic fractions because it doesn’t analyze the number. I think it was all complete in the chapter and wouldn’t add anything because first I’m not a teacher and another one was that i don’t know anything else.

I think the editor put all the material in this chapter together becuase it tells you a lot about monomials, fractions, and decimals. It also teaches you a lot about the GCF. this all helps you for the next section, chapter 5. In the next chapter you learn how to multiply, add, subtract, divide, and solve fractions and decimals, and monomials. also you need to know the GCF to find the mean median and mode, and you learn that in chapter 5. I think that the editors could put also chapter 5 in this chapter and make a big chapter.

I think it all ties in together somehow, because exponents are useful when writing prime factorization, exponents come in handy. Maybe our good friends from Glencoe may have decided to have made another chapter just for the exponents. They could have also put all the lessons on exponents together and not spread them out throughout the chapter.

I think the editor put all the material together in this chapter because it is all a preparatory for chapter 5, where we would be cluelesss without learning about the GCF, simplifying algrebraic expressions, and other things as well. MAYBE the scientific notation doesn’t fit, but the rest is okay. If there were any lessons before chapter 5, they should just be in the beggining part of chapter 5, to not make #4 longer.

In my opinion, I think that this is one of the hardest chapters. I think the editors put all of this material together in the same chapter because almost all of it has to do with the same concept, breaking down and analyzing numbers in different ways. One thing that I think that connects all of the lessons is using exponents. I think that all of the lessons in this chapter fit in it and I wouldn’t add anything to the chapter.

I think the editor put all of this together because it all ties together into a category. It also has to do with how to analyze numbers in different ways. i wouldn’t add anything else because I think there is nothing more that helps to analyze numbers. There might be more, but they might be difficulter so they are put in another chapter.

if we didn’t know what they taught us in chapter 4 we wouldn’t be able to to chapter 5 and

Chapter 4 is about exponents and fractions. I think the editors made it to prepare for other math lessons, harder ones, that use fractions and converting exponents.

Ch. 4 is about exponents and fractions. I think the editors made it to prepare for other math lessons, harder ones, that use fractions and converting exponents.

I think the editors made Chapter 4 so we could be ready for the future and know the materials.

I think the editors made Chapter 4 so we could be ready for the future and know the materials. This chapter is about converting fractions into decimals, or decimals into fractions.

Ch. 4 is about exponents and fractions. I think the editors made it to prepare for other math lessons, harder ones, that use fractions and converting exponents. Chapter 4 also teaches you about the GCF.

In my opinion I also think its one of the hardest chapters. I think the editors put all this material together in the same chapter because almost everything in it is about the sam e thing, analyzing and breaking down numbers in different ways. The thing that I think that connects all of the lessons is exponents. I also think that all of the lessons in this chapter fit it and I couldn’t add anything to this chapter.

Have you guys noticed that all of the concepts we learned in Chapter 4 centered completely around monomials? Plus and minus signs were almost non-existent. Anyone care to elaborate on this?

  • 15    Wendy Lin // Nov 25, 2008 at 7:13 pm

The editor put all this lessons in one chapter I think it is because some how they are all related, like they are all related to monomials. Some of the lessons talk about fractions and some of the others have exponents in it.I will not add anything else because I think that it is good enough for us to understand the chapter and because if the editor add anything else maybe we can get confuse.

I think the editor put all this lessons in one chapter because almost everything are related to exponents and monomials.

I think I won’t take anything off and add anything to this chapter because I think is enough for us to know and understand the materials and all the lessons are related and if the editor add more things to this chapter, we might get confuse.

I also think that this chapter was on of the hardest ones. There was a lot of information in one chapter which made it harder than the other chapters we have done. I think the editor put all of this information in one chapter because all of the lessons are part of the same concept. I wouldn’t take off anything because it is all important information. I wouldn’t add any information because it is already a lot to memorize.

I think that in this chapter it the editor trued to make you get ready in the future and that the lessons are pretty much the same but they get harder. I think in this chapter for me was alittle bit challenging. This chapter is about converting fractions into decimals, or decimals into fractions.
